This is a review for Dr. Angela Hira. I had been trying to get diagnosed for a condition that had been causing GI issues for years, but my tests were negative. Ultimately, the GI providers I saw turned me away eventually. Dr. Hira was the 4th GI I had seen. I learned of a condition called MALS and asked her to order the tests to check for it. She didn’t belittle me or tell me I was overreacting or reading too much online. She supported me and ordered the MRA so I could see a vascular specialist. When that test came back negative, I learned of another condition called Slipping Rib Syndrome. I strongly suspected this one because it matched the disease profile very well. A physical exam from Dr. Adam Hansen in West Virginia confirmed this diagnosis, but he needed to rule out other possible chest wall issues. She once again assisted me and ordered the test on behalf of the thoracic surgeon. Because of her willingness to listen and support me, I was able to get a diagnosis and a plan of care. I just had surgery about 4 days ago to repair my bilateral slipped ribs, and although I have months of recovery ahead of me, so many of my symptoms have subsided in just a short amount of time. We need more doctors like Dr. Hira and I am truly grateful for her support and the kindness she showed me over the years. I highly recommend her if you need a GI in the area.

I’m not exaggerating when I say that Dr. Robey has changed my life. I’ve had GI issues since basically birth and just kind of dealt with it because I didn’t know any different, and none of the doctors I saw in my childhood could find a solution. Dr. Robey took the time to understand what was going on and tried a few different medicines until we found one that worked. I didn’t realize how much pain I had been in my whole life until I became pain-free. I didn’t know I could feel this good. When I had to switch insurances and UHC refused to cover the medication any more, Dr. Robey’s team worked with the drug manufacturer to continue getting me (at no cost!) the medication I need. I will recommend Wake Gastro to anyone and everyone that asks!

It was an easy in and out. Dr Hira, Ashley, and the rest of the staff at the Durant Road office took good care of me. I felt as though I were treated for my specific needs not just in a general sense.

I am dealing with a really complicated number of problems concerning the health of my intestinal tract. I have been very afraid of going to the doctor because I honestly thought there might not be a doctor out there that would be understanding about what I have dealt with for so many years. Dr. Hira was extremely compassionate and very knowledgeable, and she treated me in a way that left my dignity in tact. She made me feel very comfortable, and I could tell I was in good hands.

The nurse Johanna, and Dr Herschelman are very personal. I love it! Dr. Herschelman has been my GI physician for a year. I am pleased with his knowledge concerning any concerns I may have. They are efficient, personal & knowledgeable.

Only have had my first visit... but man what a breathe of fresh air compared to the last GI I was visiting. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Dr Hira was knowledgeable and confident making me feel much more comfortable with my situation than my previous GI. Look forward to getting things under control/resolved. I have an hour drive to get to the facility and it is worth it!

Paperwork was available online so I was able to have it completed prior to my appointment. I was called in on time with no wait. Everyone I worked with was friendly, yet efficient. The doctor was friendly and had a plan of action at the end of our meeting. I was very pleased!

Wow! Wake Gastro is amazing. I have seen Molly (Dr. Hughes PA) and Dr. Hughes. Both visits were such a great experience. Their attention to your concerns and great personalities make for a great appointment. I had an endoscopy recently that went smoothly and cannot say enough nice things about the practice!
